World's Easiest Yeast Bread
A no-knead, artisan-style bread that's perfect for beginners.
Ingredients
- 3 cups (450g) bread or plain/all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp instant or rapid rise yeast
- 2 tsp cooking/kosher salt (or 1 ¼ tsp table salt)
- 1 ½ cups (375 ml) very warm tap water
- 1 ½ tbsp flour for dusting
Directions
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and salt. Add the warm water and stir until all the flour is incorporated. The dough will be very wet and sloppy.
- Rise: Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 2-3 hours in a warm place until it has doubled in volume and is bubbly.
- Preheat Oven & Pot: About 30 minutes before baking, place a Dutch oven with the lid on in the oven and preheat to 230°C/450°F (220°C fan).
- Shape Dough: Sprinkle your work surface with 1 tablespoon of flour and scrape the dough onto it. Fold the sides in to form a rough round disc.
- Flip Dough onto Paper: Flip the dough onto a piece of baking paper and gently shape it into a round.
- Bake: Carefully place the dough (on the paper) into the hot pot, put the lid on, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Final Bake: Remove the lid and bake for another 12 minutes to brown and crisp the crust.
- Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a rack for 10 minutes before slicing.
